MiraBook Review – The Lapdock That Turns Your Smartphone into a Laptop
Build Quality and Design
The general appearance immediately gives a sense of quality. The black aluminum body feels solid yet elegant, decorated with a subtle luminous Miraxess logo on the lid. Weighing less than 1.3 kg, the MiraBook is light enough to carry everywhere while still feeling robust in hand. The keyboard is a comfortable French AZERTY layout with deactivatable backlighting and includes several useful shortcut keys. Three indicator lights above the keyboard provide quick visual feedback for power, caps lock and battery. The typing experience is pleasant and well balanced, making it suitable for long writing sessions.
Connectivity is well thought out and surprisingly complete for a lapdock of this size. On the left side you will find one USB-C port for charging, one USB-A 3.0 port, an audio jack output and a Micro SD card extender. On the right side, there is one HDMI output and another USB-A 3.0 port. Underneath, exiting on the right, a flat USB-C cable connects your smartphone using DisplayPort Alt Mode. This design keeps the cable tidy and secure while maintaining signal stability.
The 13.3-inch Full HD screen offers a clear and sharp image. In bright environments it may lack a little luminosity, but the overall image quality remains pleasant for daily use. The MiraBook’s aluminum chassis provides a professional look while remaining lightweight and portable, ideal for mobile productivity setups.

Keyboard, Trackpad and Usability
The MiraBook integrates a simple HID multitouch trackpad that can be disabled when not needed to avoid accidental clicks. Scrolling up and down is performed with two-finger gestures, and both right and left clicks can be made with a light press on the lower area of the pad or a simple touch anywhere on the surface. However, pinch and zoom gestures are not available because the trackpad operates in HID mode. Miraxess initially considered full touch recognition but preferred to prioritize precision and stability. Users can still activate their smartphone as a secondary touchpad through Samsung DeX to regain pinch and zoom functionality, although this must be manually enabled each time.
The supplied flat USB-C cable works but feels short for some desk setups. Its length limits flexibility, and generic replacements tend to drain the lapdock’s battery faster. Miraxess confirmed that a longer, fully compatible cable is in development and will be available as an accessory.
A small hexagonal port on the right side allows attachment of a Smartphone Slide holder, a practical accessory for docking your phone beside the screen. Unfortunately, this holder is not included in the box.
Connectivity and External Devices
The MiraBook’s HDMI output mirrors the internal screen, which is useful for presentations but currently does not support extending the display to a second monitor. While this might limit advanced multitasking, it remains practical for projecting your desktop onto a larger display. The lapdock does not feature HDMI-in, so it cannot be used as an external monitor for other devices without a dedicated adapter or board.
Daily Experience
In everyday use, the MiraBook behaves like a high-end laptop shell. It delivers the freedom to work with your smartphone as your only device. With Samsung DeX or Motorola Ready For, multitasking feels natural and fluid, offering a real desktop-style environment for emails, document editing, browsing and video playback. The internal battery powers both the display and your smartphone for several hours, allowing long sessions away from outlets.
Conclusion
The MiraBook lapdock perfectly embodies the Mobile-Only vision that Miraxess had pursued for years. It combines elegant design, robust materials and broad compatibility with modern desktop modes. It is an ideal solution for professionals, students and anyone seeking a simpler and lighter computing experience. While not without its minor limitations, the MiraBook remains one of the most complete and refined lapdocks available today. It represents a new way to work and a clear step forward for those ready to make their smartphone their main computer. Too bad the company no longer exists.
